Carl's Jr. Keeps Summer Going with Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad

Jul 21, 2010

Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich Inspires Sweet New Salad Entree

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - July 21, 2010 - Carl’s Jr.® is kicking its summer menu up a notch with the introduction of its Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad, now available at all Carl’s Jr. restaurants.

Sweet, spicy and light, the salad features grilled chicken strips, charbroiled Dole® pineapple, fresh red onion slice rings and cucumber slices on a bed of mixed spring salad greens, topped with Asian sesame dressing and wonton strips.

The Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad is available at Carl’s Jr. for $4.99. Prices may vary by location. Guests also can still enjoy the popular Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich, which was introduced earlier in the season and, with its signature charbroiled chicken breast fillets and pineapple, inspired the new salad entrée.

“The Carl’s Jr. Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad is unique in the fast-food world and it’s perfect for the hottest days of summer,” said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing at Carl’s Jr. “The grilled chicken, grilled pineapple, fresh produce and Asian sesame dressing together create just a remarkable flavor combination. Our franchisees love the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich and were thrilled to add this salad to their summer menus.”

The addition of pineapples to its entrees is not new to Carl’s Jr. In 2007, it was the first major fast-food restaurant chain to offer a teriyaki burger with grilled pineapple – something previously only found in sit-down burger restaurants. “Carl’s Jr. has become known as the fast-food place where the public can find the same kind of burgers, sandwiches and salads they previously could only get at more expensive, sit-down restaurants,” added Haley. “The Teriyaki Burger, the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich and now the Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Salad are delicious examples of that philosophy.”

All season long, Carl’s Jr. is offering Hawaiian Summer promotional tie-ins. Stay tuned to the Carl’s Jr. Web site ( and social media pages (, for details.
